Chaplaincy Skill Development For Spiritual Care Providers In Schools Launched
Aug 14, 2023
The National School Chaplain Association (NSCA) (405-831-3299), the governing body for school chaplains in the United States, has new programs to develop chaplaincy skills.
Norman, United States - August 14, 2023 /PressCable/ —
The National School Chaplain Association is constantly expanding and diversifying their chaplaincy training programs and curriculums so that they can best nurture interested school chaplains and facilitate their move into the profession by empowering them with the toolkit they will need to become leading spiritual care providers and connecting them with job opportunities. Now, the NSCA has created a number of new chaplaincy skill development courses that they believe will also help current school chaplains, independent chaplains who are not currently accredited with the association, and trained chaplains returning after a lengthy absence, to grow in their skills and move into a more esteemed chaplaincy position.

The National School Chaplain Association has seen that in the last few years, there has been both a greater demand for school chaplains in school communities in the US, and greater demands placed upon the role of school chaplain. With mental health services languishing in many school districts, school chaplains have increasingly become the leading source of both pastoral care and general wellbeing support in many schools.
Therefore, the NSCA believes it is incumbent upon their association to both adequately guide the next generation of chaplains, and to help current school chaplains keep enhancing their skills so that they can meet these changing demands.
More information on what the National School Chaplain Association does to help both aspiring, newly accredited and established chaplains can be accessed at https://nationalschoolchaplainassociation.org/chaplains/
Above all, the NSCA’s chaplaincy skill development programs are done with an ethos of nurturing, a quality which they also believe is essential to being a good chaplain. All training is held online and is conducted in partnership with Oral Roberts University. The National School Chaplain Association subsidizes all of their study programs to make them more accessible to chaplains at all levels of their career.
The National School Chaplain Association is a non-profit charitable organization that believes wholeheartedly in the value of school chaplains in bringing spiritual care, hope, and happiness to schools across the country. They are always available to all school chaplains—whether they are an aspiring, newly accredited or established chaplain.
A spokesperson for the association said, “The National School Chaplain Association was established to promote school chaplains as legitimate and necessary members of a school staff through national standards for school chaplains. Our mission is to equip chaplains to serve the spiritual needs of PK-12 students, staff, and their families.”
