Ecuron presents at the Houston Petroleum Club: Cybersecurity in Oil and Gas

Houston's energy industry is a prime target for cyber attacks. The talk will cover major cyber incidents in the oil and gas industry, their impact, and how to counter existing threats.

Ecuron Inc. will be giving a presentation at the Petroleum Club of Houston (35th Floor) located in the Total Plaza Building, 1201 Louisiana, Houston, TX 77002 on November 4th, 2022 at noon. The organizer of the event is the American Association of Drilling Engineers (AADE), a non-profit (IRS 501-6C), volunteer organization with 11 Chapters across the US. Registration for walk-ins opens at 11 am.
The talk “Cybersecurity in Oil & Gas – Threats and Strategies to Counter Them” will cover major cyber incidents in the oil and gas industry, the impact they had, and the complex landscape of existing threats. The presentation will include practical steps to securing your company as well as yourself as an employee.
With nearly 5000 energy-related firms for virtually every segment of the energy industry, including exploration, production, transmission, marketing, supply, and technology, Houston is the Energy Capital of the World.
“With such a high concentration of companies that are directly part of or contributors to critical infrastructure, Houston and its energy sector will always be a prime target for malicious cyber actors – especially, for nation-state actors,” says Ecuron’s Deputy CISO and Cybersecurity Consultant Nicholas McBride who will be presenting the talk. “Cybersecurity in the oil and natural gas industry has to include not only your IT infrastructure but the operational technology (OT) as well. Comprehensive protection across upstream, midstream, downstream, and the supply chain is needed to protect intellectual property and industrial control systems (ICS).”
