Canada’s growing thrust towards environmentally responsible infrastructure and energy.

Since late the 28th of April 2017, the government of Alberta announced the availability of provincial rebates to its homeowners. This rebate underlines the province’s significant emphasis on energy efficiency and provides rebates on eligible energy conservation infrastructure such as triple-glazed windows, wall insulation, and tankless water heaters. These rebates are paid directly to qualifying homeowners who have had these products installed by registered Alberta contractors.

Capital Plumbing & Heating’s approval as a registered contractor allows the company to participate in the government’s rebate program that provides rebates of up to $1,000 on the installation of Energy Star-compliant tankless water heaters.

Tankless water heaters have been shown to be far more efficient and provide an instant supply of hot water without the need for traditional storage tanks. Older tank-based heaters constantly expend energy when the temperature of the stored water drops below preset levels. Tankless water heaters require no additional water to be stored.

The company’s registration is listed on https://efficiencyalberta.ca, the website of Energy Efficiency Alberta, a governmental agency working towards energy conservation in the province. Capital Plumbing and Heating meet the qualifying criteria for a registered contractor in being an Alberta-headquartered business with full liability insurance and Workers’ Compensation coverage.

According to a spokesperson for Capital Plumbing & Heating, “Our plumbers in Edmonton, Alberta are certified in the installation and maintenance of tankless water heaters and can calculate a homeowner’s rebate based on the efficiency of the heater installed.”

Capital Plumbing & Heating is a full-services 24/7 plumbing and HVAC provider headquartered in Edmonton. The company specializes in professional residential plumbing services covering drain cleaning, pipe repairs, as well as the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing fixtures. The company’s uniformed technicians leverage 15 years of industry experience and expertise to provide guaranteed service quality. More information is available at the URL above.

Style Edit: Boucheron’s ivy motif blooms with new Lierre de Paris high jewellery creations

Ivy has a way of making itself at home. It climbs, curls and spreads with little regard for where it is supposed to stop, taking over walls and trees with its fast-growing natural architecture. For Frédéric Boucheron, that freedom was precisely the attraction. Of all the plants that appeared in his jewellery, ivy became one of the most persistent – a fitting symbol for a jeweller who was drawn to nature in its less orderly forms. The motif entered the Boucheron archives in 1870 and, by the end...

An innovator who redefined the artistic preferences of her era, she established the wildly influential empire style of architecture and decorative arts, using her own...

Boucheron CEO Hélène Poulit-Duquesne on Histoire de Style and Carte Blanche

In 2020, Hélène Poulit-Duquesne, CEO of Boucheron, made a bold move in the very traditional world of high jewellery. High jewellery – or haute joaillerie in French – is a very niche segment of the jewellery industry, akin to haute couture in fashion. Think one-of-a-kind creations made with the most precious metals and rarest stones, often requiring years of handiwork. Founded in 1858 and the first jeweller to be based in Paris’ Place Vendôme, Boucheron is known for its unique approach to the...

Can HRT help prevent dementia? New research suggests it might, depending on key factors

This is the 99th instalment in a series on dementia, including the research into its causes and treatment, advice for carers and stories of hope. Will using hormone replacement therapy (HRT) preserve a woman’s brain health and protect her from dementia or not? The debate continues. Various studies have looked at the effects of menopause and hormone treatment on the brain – and dementia risk. Some have suggested that HRT has no impact on brain health in older women, and that it has a neutral...

Kids and young adults are addicted to screens. New research argues it may be a public health concern

The physical and mental well-being of millions of kids around the world may be at risk because of excess screen time, according to global data analyzed for a new series of research papers published Sunday by medical journal The Lancet. But researchers say they need to see tech companies' own user data to determine just how severe an issue it may be.
