American Art Institute has opened enrollment for its Children's Art Center program, offering structured drawing and painting instruction to children and teenagers in both English and Chinese.

The announcement comes as a study from University College London found that children who regularly draw and paint see a 32 percent boost in self-esteem, a larger increase than seen with reading or music. American Art Institute seeks to give local families access to this benefit through its Children's Art Center program, offering structured drawing and painting instruction for children and teenagers.
Tuition for the program is $150 for a four-class session plus a $20 practical materials fee, payable via Zelle. Classes combine drawing fundamentals with painting technique, building from foundational skills toward more advanced work as students progress. Instruction is offered bilingually in English and Chinese, reflecting the school's mission to help immigrant and multilingual families overcome cultural barriers.
"Drawing and painting give children a way to express themselves before they even have the words for it," said a spokesperson for American Art Institute. "Our goal with the Children's Art Center is to give every student, no matter their background or first language, a place to build that confidence early and carry it with them."
The Children's Art Center is offered alongside other programs, including children's ballet classes, dance performance, drama & acting, photography, and music and piano. The school is located at 4479 Mission St, San Francisco, CA 94112, and is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
