The synthetic ice is made of sophisticated plastic, allowing children and adults to use their ice skates all year. According to Lorimer, the rinks are eco-friendly and non-toxic. The surfaces are made from recycled acrylic. Made for indoor and outdoor use, they are also weather resistant. As Lorimer explains, “Rain and snow do not damage the synthetic ice.” She further confirms that rain has no effect on the rink’s functionality and snow just needs to be shoveled off the surface beforehand.
The only requirements for setting up an acrylic arena is that the underlying ground must be flat, hard, and level. The rinks can be installed directly on concrete, asphalt, grass, wood, and marble surfaces. Iceless skating rinks are great for a variety of occasion including sports tournaments, community skating events, team events, birthday parties, community festivals, corporate functions and a variety of other private or public get togethers.
