Jacqueline Susanna Chan, DO, a Holistic Medicine Physician with Marin Natural Medicine Center & Advanced Hyperbaric Recovery of Marin

New York City, New York Jun 6, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - As a holistic medicine physician, Dr. Chan believes that compassion, presence, and grace are crucial healing forces along with intelligently applied clinical knowledge. She is the Medical Director of Marin Natural Medicine Center in Larkspur, California & Advanced Hyperbaric Recovery of Marin in San Rafael.

Drawn to osteopathic medicine because of its holistic and individualized approach, Dr. Chan believes that health means more than the absence from disease. She uses functional lab testing that looks at the body's genetics, overall toxic burden, nutrient status, gut and brain inflammation, brain chemistry, food allergies, hormone levels, and stealth infections such as mold, parasite, virus and tick borne infections. She also addresses more subtle energies that can affect health such as wi-fi and emotional or psychic stressors.

Rooted in the principles of holistic medicine, her primary method is to support the body's biochemical processes and innate self-regenerative healing intelligence through a wide array of treatment modalities that include the energetics of the body's biofield, ortho molecular substances, herbal tinctures for endocrine support and anti-pathogen purposes, German homeopathic remedies for increasing organ functionality, IV nutrient therapy, IV ozone therapy, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, as well as hands-on osteopathic cranio-sacral therapy and energy balancing.

In regards to her educational background, Dr. Chan graduated from Mount Holyoke College, magna cum laude, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy in 1990. She then did a short stint in an MBA finance program on Wall Street in New York City.

Deciding that her true calling was in medicine, she went on to earn her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine at Ohio University, graduating in the top 10 of her class in 1994.

Upon completing her residency in family medicine in 1997, Dr. Chan attained board certification in integrative holistic medicine and neuromusculoskeletal medicine through the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine. She then presented on a panel for Dr. Oz at the Civic Center in San Francisco, completed a research study at the Institute of Frontier Science on the Biofield, served as part-time faculty at Touro Medical School's Osteopathic Medical Department, and completed a Transformative Leadership Training program in 2014.

With a long history of supporting women's health and holistic integration and wellness, Dr. Chan holds board memberships with associations, including the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine, the Institute of Functional Medicine, the American Osteopathic Association, the American College of Advanced Medicine, the Osteopathic Cranial Academy, and the American Academy of Osteopathy. She has also appeared as a panelist for medical presentations featured in print, via radio programming, and television.

Currently, she is serving as a core faculty member at the Academy of Intuition Medicine and presents once a year at Institute of Noetic Sciences on Energetic Awareness.

Holistic medicine is a form of healing that considers the whole person -- body, mind, spirit, and emotions -- in the quest for optimal health and wellness. A holistic medicine physician treats people using a whole-body approach. That means they focus on the body, mind, spirit and emotions during diagnosis and treatment. They use traditional medicine and also consider factors such as lifestyle, diet, sleep habits, and stress level.

Outside of the office, Dr. Chan enjoys dancing, hiking, meditating, writing poetry, and playing the harp.

With Michelin’s Green Star gone, Hong Kong seeks to redefine sustainable dining

David Toutain witnessed the birth of the Michelin Green Star in 2020. His eponymous restaurant in Paris was among the first to be awarded while Feuille, his Hong Kong outpost, secured one within a year of its 2023 opening. But even when Michelin quietly retired the award this year, he still never understood exactly how it was assessed. “I have no idea,” he says. “I don’t know the rules. I don’t know anything about it, to be very honest.” His confusion points to a larger problem. The Green Star...

‘Hong Kong would be impossible.’ Why the newest Fotografiska photo museum is in Shenzhen

Contemporary photography museum Fotografiska’s newest outpost in Shenzhen is strikingly different from its original venue in Stockholm, Sweden – in the former customs building on the Stadsgardshamnen waterfront – or its Shanghai location, which opened in 2023 inside the Guang San Warehouse. In Shenzhen, a technological metropolis where sleek high-rises and futuristic cultural venues continue to emerge, the museum integrates into the modern urban landscape with a crisp white rectangular facade...

EUROPE’S DARKER SIDE STARTS AT THE TRAIN STATION

Halloween in Europe does not have to mean flying to one of the usual capitals. Some of the most atmospheric — and unsettling — stories are found in smaller historic cities and towns, where medieval streets, old legends and genuinely macabre landmarks are still part of the landscape.

How AI is reshaping microdramas as the vertical video format takes a ‘generational jump’

Paddy Ma Wendi, a director of vertical dramas since 2023, has had a front-row seat to how fast and hard artificial intelligence has affected the mobile-first entertainment genre in 2026. Digital content farms have started churning out short productions – serialised stories made for smartphones and usually watched in portrait mode – using the latest AI technology. “When I was in the US [for a live-action vertical drama], I usually hired about 20 to 30 people, including the actors,” says Ma, who...
