The planning organization is adding to the high school competition next year.  This year, local athletes from Grand Bahama competed in a showcase to expose colleges to local talent for recruiting.  In 2024, the group will add high schools and top running clubs from the United States and other countries to the competition.  According to Marvin Henfield, co-founder, there's still space available for both college and high school teams interested in attending.  "We would love to host as many schools as possible.  Contact us as soon as possible, we are 100 Days out and finalizing all details for hotels and travel,"  The host hotel is the Grand Lucayan Resort (https://www.grandlucayan.com/) located on the beautiful Freeport, Grand Bahama beach.

The meet showed great results during the March 2023.  This year's competition included top DI schools including, Texas A&M University that won the overall team award and men's competition, University of South Carolina, Vanderbilt, University of Arizona, Oklahoma University and The University of The Bahamas. The meet is sanctioned by Bahamas Athletic Association ensuring that any records set during the competition is recorded and shared with the NCAA and other track and field organizations.

Tai Fung Lau at 65: Hong Kong restaurant’s Lu cuisine legacy, Bruce Lee ties and more

Ask any regular at Tai Fung Lau Peking Restaurant in Hong Kong’s Tsim Sha Tsui district what keeps them coming back, and they are likely to mention its down-to-earth dishes, generous portions and value for money. This year, as the restaurant marks its 65th anniversary, second-generation owner Steve Wan remains committed to preserving both the hearty portions and the flavours of his father’s kitchen. This Singaporean grandma, 73, couldn’t walk without pain. Today, she deadlifts 67.5kg

When 73-year-old Rosemina Hamzah stepped up to the hex bar at Singapore’s Mbold Seniors Hex Bar Deadlift Challenge in August, she was not just attempting her first deadlift competition – she was rewriting what ageing looks like. Latching onto 67.5kg (149lbs), more than her own body weight of 64kg, the novice lifter pulled it with ease – a personal best to win her category. It was a remarkable feat for a woman who, just over a year ago, could hardly walk and was constantly in pain. Before August...

Style Edit: Shiatzy Chen draws inspiration from orchids for SS27 at Paris Fashion Week

Florals don’t have to mean full bloom. For spring/summer 2027, Shiatzy Chen takes the orchid but looks beyond its purely decorative appeal to the proportions, movement and resilience of the plant. Presented at Paris Fashion Week on October 5, the new collection translates that botanical inspiration into a thoughtful line-up where fluidity and structure come together. The season forms part of the house’s year-long exploration of the Four Gentlemen of Eastern culture. Following on from the Resort...

London wine club’s Shanghai outpost to offer Chinese drinkers a ‘sweet spot’

London-based private members’ wine club 67 Pall Mall is scheduled to open its first mainland China outpost in December, in Shanghai’s former French Concession. Founder Grant Ashton says the move reflects a global shift away from spirits – which can reach 40 per cent alcohol by volume (ABV) – towards wine, typically 12 to 14 per cent ABV. “Wine is halfway down to zero,” he says, mapping out the spectrum from spirits to non-alcoholic drinks. “If you’re starting from spirits, wine is your sweet...

Outrigger Phi Phi Island Resort is thus a welcome new addition to the scene. Located on the northern tip of Phi Phi Don Island, the main island in the Phi Phi archipelago, this laid-back, unpretentious resort sits on the quiet shores of Laem Tong Beach, within a protected national...
