During the on-air conversation, the show’s host brought up the topic of rising interest rates. Mr. Ruedy responded by stating, “Interest rates have gone up since the presidential election but rates are still competitive and still at an all-time low.” He went on to say, “We don’t know exactly what’s going to happen, but the prediction is that the Federal Reserve is going to raise interest rates three more times in 2017. This means that credit card interest rates are going to be affected. Therefore, anyone with an adjustable rate home equity line of credit might experience an increase in their interest rate.”
Mr. Ruedy stressed the importance of considering debt consolidation as soon as possible because time is of the essence due to rising interest rates. Anyone with a home mortgage interest rate higher than four percent may benefit from a home loan refinance.
The topic of Private Mortgage Insurance (PMI) was also discussed during the television show. Mr. Ruedy wants homeowners in Colorado to understand that in many scenarios, PMI can be eliminated.
Mr. Ruedy responded to the topic of PMI by stating, “The Denver area is one of the hottest real estate markets in the country. Home values have increased significantly over the past few years, which means many homeowners may no longer be required to pay PMI. By eliminating PMI, homeowners can potentially save hundreds of dollars per month.”
