Detroit, United States - March 19, 2020 /MarketersMedia/ —

After appearing in Popcaan's 'Wine For Me', KimmiexJ has started to use social media to promote dance workshops hosted by talented choreographers and teachers throughout North America. She made her debut into the international dance industry in 2018 and soon became known on social media for her dance videos.

As an eminent Dancehall dancer, she has used her Instagram following to promote other talented Dancehall and Afrobeats dancers, sharing the creativity of both their stellar moves and concepts.

Afrobeat is a very distinguished music genre where West African musical styles is mixed with western pop, jazz, contemporary tracks, and electronic music. Thus, Afrobeats dance moves are created to go along with this type of music. Since her move to the United States, KimmiexJ has been dedicated to expanding her dance vocabulary to include Afrobeats dance moves, and she has eagerly taken to learning from experts in the field.

Moreover, she is also an advent Dancehall dancer. Dancehall is a popular Jamaican music category, started in 1970, a version of Reggae music. Dancehall is a freestyle dance style influenced by the roots of the community. Also, this dance style requires a great sense of fashion that speaks of the culture.

Kimberly J said," I have grown up seeing dancehall all my life, in the way my mother, my uncles and aunts live and celebrate. I always wanted to learn it and be a professional Dancehall dancer. So when I had the chance to learn in a classroom setting, I jumped at it. Then, I was introduced to Afrobeat music and I fell in love with the beat. So I started going classes to learn, and struggled a lot. With years of practice and patient, I hope to excel with both of these dance genres."

She further added, "One day I had a message from a casting director, asking if I was available for a video shoot with a “Dancehall artist.” I had no idea which artist it was, but I knew the choreographer was one of my teachers and a notable leader in the Dancehall community in Toronto, Jonna Abrams, so I said yes with no hesitation. That was Popcaan's music video."

She also emphasizes the importance of posting dancers’ work on social media, as these videos often lead to greater dance opportunities. “Don’t be shy to share your work!” She said. “You never know who will be inspired to dance just like you!”

Style Edit: 45R’s new knits spotlight texture and Japanese craftsmanship

The appeal of a good knit is often immediate, from the softness against the skin to the reassuring volume and warmth. At 45R, those qualities begin well before a garment takes shape. The Japanese label’s latest selection puts the making process in focus, bringing together airy merino, characterful Shetland wool and the flecked textures of Donegal tweed. Founded in Tokyo in 1977, 45R approaches clothing through monozukuri, or the “art of making”, a philosophy centred on respect for craft and...

Suit linings: the link between the NFL draft and London’s Savile Row

Back in April, suit jackets lined with interesting graphics and prints emerged as one of the more unusual fashion trends at the 2026 NFL draft in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the annual event where professional American football teams pick out the best young players looking to enter the league. Colton Hood, then a Tennessee cornerback, now on the New York Giants’ roster, rocked up in a cobalt-blue jacket that, when opened, revealed a swathe of family photographs across the lining, chronicling his...

O3’s Luca Yang hated studying. So he built 24/7 study cafes to motivate people like him

At 22, Luca Yang was running a small teaching company in New Zealand after quitting a six-figure finance job that he hated. It had humble beginnings, where he tutored English online for A$25 (US$17.55) per hour just to get by. When one of his students got into Oxford, word spread: one student became 50, then 500. By most measures, he had already won the start-up lottery. “It was producing a lot of money, but it wasn’t something I actually loved doing,” says Yang, who was born and raised in...
