New York City, New York May 2, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - A prominent surgical oncologist, Dr. Minarich is affiliated with Nuvance Health Surgical Oncology, seeing patients in the Poughkeepsie and Kingston areas. He has a broad-based practice in melanoma, sarcoma, gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary malignancies, and has a special clinical interest in appendiceal malignancies and cytoreduction and HIPEC therapies.

Academically, he attended Drexel University College of Medicine for medical school and completed his residency in general surgery at Cooper University Hospital. After his residency, he worked at Goshen Center for Cancer Care, where he received advanced training in hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC). He then went on to complete his fellowship in complex general surgical oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center, an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.
In pursuit of clinical excellence, the doctor is board-certified in surgical oncology and general surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.
Surgical oncology is the branch of surgery applied to oncology. It focuses on the surgical management of tumors, especially cancerous tumors. A surgical oncologist removes the tumor and nearby tissue during surgery. He or she also performs certain types of biopsies to help diagnose cancer.
In his spare time, Dr. Minarich enjoys hiking in the Hudson Valley with his dogs, playing board games, eating at local restaurants, and cooking at home.
