New Life Counseling Center announces the launch of marriage counseling services to the surrounding cities of Brandon, Riverview and Plant City

New Life Counseling, a ministry of New Life Church in Valrico, Florida, announces they are now offering marriage and family counseling to couples in need in the Brandon, Riverview and Plant City areas. This expansion allows them to help more couples who find they are struggling in their marriage or family life. No relationship is without difficulties, yet working through these problems together can strengthen the couple and their family.
Rodger McFarland , New Life's acting Director stated, "We've been helping couples with marriage problems for the past 14 years. In the beginning, it was mainly members of our local church. But there came a point when word began to spread and we had couples knocking on our door from all around the area. Several churches in our area began to send their couples to us."
For McFarland, he sees marriage counseling as a means to an end, a way to change the world. "We made a strategic decision that helping marriages was one of the best ways we could impact our area. If we can build strong marriages, we can build strong families. And strong families, well let's just say, strong families can change this world."
To that end, New Life has launched a new website at www.FindNewLife.org to build awareness of their services to the community. The website is designed to help couples in Brandon, Valrico, Riverview and Plant City to more easily locate Christian based marriage counseling that is effective, convenient and affordable.
The plan is to use the website, not only to build community awareness, but to offer resources couples can use on their own to grow their relationship. McFarland also noted, at present, they are working on a plan to have prayer counselors available 24/7 by telephone, for couples or individuals who feel they need immediate attention. "There's nothing like prayer to help people calm down, refocus and allow God to move in their situation," says McFarland.
New Life Counseling does not accept insurance but does utilize an income-based sliding scale. They also offer full and partial scholarships to couples in financial difficulty.
When asked if counseling works for everyone, McFarland says, "Unfortunately no it doesn't. There is a caution in scriptures about the hardness of one's heart. Many times couples have waited so long to find help, their hearts cannot recover from the damage they have inflicted upon each other."
McFarland continues, "If we can help couples see there's hope for their marriage, and they can believe in that hope, just a little, they almost always end up having a better marriage than before. For many of the couples I see, the problems that bring them into counseling become the raw material they need to grow a great marriage. The crisis brings the breakthrough."
