Eating disorders are often overlooked when it comes to middle-aged women. However, studies estimate that 13% of women over the age of 40 have an eating disorder. For many, these eating disorders have been lifelong afflictions, but in a growing number of cases, major life events such as divorces, illnesses, menopause, or deaths of friends and family are precipitating these maladies.
Kat Pratt Coaching addresses a variety of eating disorders, including anorexia, bulimia, and body dysmorphia, but the main focus is binge eating. Its classes unravel some of the misconceptions about food and delve into the emotional ties women have with food that lead to self-sabotage.
These sessions also try to provide women with holistic healing tools so they can reach their goals and enrich their lives. One such tool is the Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT. This technique involves tapping meridian points on the body with the fingertips to restore energy balance and relieve symptoms associated with a negative experience or emotion.
