Infrastructure Resources LLC, a Minnesota-based company, announces Tampa, Florida, as the host of Global Excavation Safety Conference 2023.
In November 2021, the largest infrastructure bill in American history totaling $1.2 trillion was passed. This bill includes upgrades to roads, bridges, and public transportation, as well as a sizeable portion being allocated to our nation's utility infrastructure. According to the Washington Post, $240 billion of the bill will be allocated to utilities. This increased funding will increase excavation project volume, which will inevitably increase the likelihood of utility damages. According to the 2020 Damage Information Reporting Tool (DIRT) Report, there were 374,658 damages to buried utilities in the U.S., resulting in an estimated societal cost of approximately $30 billion.
The Global Excavation Safety Conference is set to bring an estimated 900+ excavation safety industry professionals to Tampa, Florida, to tackle this issue. Global ESC has been the largest event in the excavation safety industry for the past 18 years and offers 80+ hours of educational content. With conference sessions, numerous networking events, and 80+ exhibitors, it is the place to be if you are committed to the mission of reducing damages and saving lives. After nearly two decades of listening to attendee feedback, fostering exhibitor relationships, and carefully cultivating a diverse educational program, 2023 promises to be the most robust event we have ever offered. From locator-specific workshops to panel-driven industry summits, Global ESC has value for everyone. Industry Summits include:
In honor of National 811 Day, the call-before-you-dig phone number in the United States, the conference is being offered at $811 through August 11, a 40% discount from the onsite price. The embroidered panorama depicting the last successful invasion of England has gone on public display at the British Museum in London this month, back on British soil for the first time since the 11th century. Tickets have sold out months in advance, and the museum expects 1 million visitors to see the tapestry before the exhibition ends in July 2027. Schoolchildren across the UK will...
WNBA player Sophie Cunningham repeatedly made headlines earlier this year when she publicly protested the inclusion of trans athletes in professional sports. “I got a lot of negative feedback about me hating trans,” the Indiana Fever guard told ESPN about the backlash she received from fans and the internet. “And I’m like, ‘I never once said that.’ I think that I am here to extend love. But I also think that love is truth, being honest. And I want to protect young girls in a locker room, or...

Growing up in the outskirts of Tokyo in the 70s, Japanese artist Mariko Mori has fond memories of the popular science-fiction series Astro Boy. “I was part of the generation of Osamu Tezuka’s animation and this was his projection of the future,” she recalls. “I remember playing with my friends, thinking about what the future may look like … we imagined different worlds.” Decades later, not much has changed for her. Mori is still imagining alternate realities and inviting viewers into these...
Few objects carry the cultural weight of the Chinese drum. Its sound has long marked moments of ceremony and celebration, from ancient rituals to family gatherings, where its rhythm has come to signify harmony, prosperity and shared joy. For Chow Tai Fook, the drum now finds a new expression in gold and diamonds with Song, a collection that translates one of China’s most enduring symbols into contemporary jewellery. The collection takes its name from the Chinese character “頌”, associated with...
For a house built on top-notch textiles, Zegna has long understood that luxury is as much about atmosphere as it is about a beautifully cut jacket. The brand’s new Hong Kong boutique – or negozio, Italian for “store” – brings that approach to Tsim Sha Tsui’s Harbour City shopping complex, where a 250-square-metre space places warm materials, soft architecture, subtle Alpine inspiration and a full menswear wardrobe at the centre of the customer experience. Located on the ground floor of Gateway...
After 20 years in Ginza, Japanese fashion label 45R this month opened a new four-storey flagship in the Tokyo district. The Seiko Ginza 5-chome Building now houses the label’s denim and natural indigo collections among old brick, stone and warm wood. At street level, reclaimed details shape the entrance. A teak facade and Takine stone frame an automatic door fashioned from chestnut. Just inside, a small garden separates the street from the shop, with salvaged stepping stones underfoot. 45R...
