Glen Cove, NY, United States - February 5, 2021 /MarketersMedia/ —
Dr. Nadine Macaluso, NYC Psychologist and ex-wife of "The Wolf of Wall Street" Jordan Belfort, understands the importance of therapy. After undergoing years of treatment herself after the ending of her traumatic marriage to the infamous "Wolf" she fully understands the resource of therapy. And now, Dr. Nadine Macaluso has a mission to be of service to others facing trauma.
Always the humanitarian, in 2020, Dr. Nadine launched her facemasks with all proceeds of her apparel line going to mental health support. She specifically sent the proceeds to secure accessibility for black women and girls in the U.S. to get mental health services. And gave free masks to breast cancer patients. Dr. Macaluso is a trauma survivor of breast cancer and domestic violence.
Due to her love of children, she also donated hundreds of children's facemasks to New York schools and organizations to provide school-aged kids with free masks as they returned to in-person school.
Reaching Out with Mental Health Support
In 2021, Dr. Nae, as her patients call her, is still 'giving back' and understands the unimaginable trauma that frontline healthcare and essential workers have had to endure over the last year. She offers her clinical expertise on trauma to these heroes by providing sliding scale therapy to frontline workers in California and New York.
Experienced Psychologist
Dr. Macaluso is a licensed marriage and family therapist with locations in Glen Cove, New York, and Hermosa Beach, Los Angeles. She has a Ph.D. in counseling and somatic psychotherapy. Her clinical skills include trauma-informed recovery from PTSD and C-PTSD.
PTSD or Post-traumatic stress disorder
PTSD or Post-traumatic stress disorder is a trauma-based mental health challenge that can produce emotional flashbacks, fear, severe anxiety, and other distressing symptoms. Anyone who has experienced a shock trauma, such as being sexually assaulted, being involved in a natural disaster, or the continual distress of being in a hospital ward witnessing unexplainable loss daily, may develop PTSD.
C-PTSD and Attachment Trauma
For those who have suffered from continual trauma in their family, there is a danger of developing what is referred to as Complex- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or C-PTSD. C-PTSD causes additional symptoms of low self-esteem, difficulties with relationships, and anxiety. Examples of ongoing trauma that may cause this diagnosis include attachment trauma, ongoing domestic violence, long-term physical or sexual abuse and, emotional neglect. Here the victim is under the control of a powerful individual such as a parent and can not escape.
Dr. Nae empathizes, "The horrifying situations that frontline healthcare and essential workers endured over the last twelve months are extraordinary. And as a U.S. citizen with such training, I want to be of service and help these heroes deal with their trauma."
Online Psychotherapy Sessions Available
Again, Dr. Macaluso offers online therapy sessions to residents of New York and California. They are frontline healthcare or essential workers.
If you or someone you love lives in either of these locations and is a frontline healthcare worker, she wants to support you. If you fit this criterion and would like to explore working together, please email or call her directly to schedule a consult.
