Accounting firm Toty estimates that high earners could claw back over £1,000 from HMRC using its convenient tax reimbursement service.
London, England, United Kingdom - December 13, 2023 —

London-based accountants Toty (Taw Owed To You) are launching a new UK tax rebate scheme to help clients improve their finances. Joining could help you claim up to £1,000 of your tax back overpaid in previous financial years.
“Dealing with HMRC is not always straightforward,” the firm says. “We know this better than anyone as accountants. We saw that many of our clients were failing to claim back tax owed to them from various contributions made in the past, meaning they were overpaying without realising it. The process was just too complicated.”
Toty says that people earning between £50,000 and £100,000 on specific pension schemes may have overpaid tax. The problem emerges from previous tax calculations. Normally, those earning in the £50,000 to £100,000 range pay 40% income tax. However, tax relief is only 20% by default when contributing to Relief at Source pensions. Toty’s purpose is to help people claim that additional 20% back from the taxman.
“The process is simple and only takes ten minutes,” the company says. “Most claims are successful, but if HMRC refuses for any reason, we don’t charge a fee so our customers don’t miss out.”
Applicants for the new tax rebate service must fulfil various eligibility criteria to make a claim. These include living and working in the UK, earning within the 40% income tax threshold ($50,270 to £100,000), and paying into a Relief at Source pension scheme.
Signing up requires applicants to answer a few questions about their finances to ensure eligibility. Then, Toty asks for an ID photo and a P60 form with an annual pension statement. Accountants review the claim and submit it to HMRC for processing. Then, the tax authority pays the tax rebate into the applicant’s bank account directly.
“Various pension schemes exist, and not all are Relief at Source,” says Toty. “Therefore, we recommend that our clients check what type of pension they have. Aviva, Penfold, The People’s Pension, True Potential Investments, and the National Employment Savings Trust are the most common providers. However, there are others, so we always recommend people get in touch with us as soon as possible to learn more about any relief the government entitles them to receive.”
Toty says it only takes ten minutes for earners to find out if the HMRC owes them money and encourages them to come forward. “There might be a nice sum of money in it,” the accountancy firm says.

There is a cross on the roof, stained glass windows and a choir loft upstairs, but this whitewashed three-level building near Sunset Boulevard in Silver Lake, Los Angeles, is no longer a house of worship. Two Italian brands – Miu Miu, Prada’s sister label, and Valentino, the Rome-based haute couture house – were the headliners of day seven of Paris Fashion Week. Here’s the lowdown on the two shows. Miuccia Prada is giving her Miu Miu customers what they want for spring/summer 2027. Everything that has made Miu Miu such a success story – from preppy staples like pleated tartan skirts to athleisure essentials like track pants – was in the show. Ivy has a way of making itself at home. It climbs, curls and spreads with little regard for where it is supposed to stop, taking over walls and trees with its fast-growing natural architecture. For Frédéric Boucheron, that freedom was precisely the attraction. Of all the plants that appeared in his jewellery, ivy became one of the most persistent – a fitting symbol for a jeweller who was drawn to nature in its less orderly forms. The motif entered the Boucheron archives in 1870 and, by the end...
Joséphine de Beauharnais, Empress of France from 1804 to 1810 during her marriage to Emperor Napoleon I, remains one of the most iconic figures in French history. A byword for style, she became known for her patronage of the arts and her exquisite taste, surrounding herself with creative people and helping to shape their work. An innovator who redefined the artistic preferences of her era, she established the wildly influential empire style of architecture and decorative arts, using her own...
In 2020, Hélène Poulit-Duquesne, CEO of Boucheron, made a bold move in the very traditional world of high jewellery. High jewellery – or haute joaillerie in French – is a very niche segment of the jewellery industry, akin to haute couture in fashion. Think one-of-a-kind creations made with the most precious metals and rarest stones, often requiring years of handiwork. Founded in 1858 and the first jeweller to be based in Paris’ Place Vendôme, Boucheron is known for its unique approach to the...
This is the 99th instalment in a series on dementia, including the research into its causes and treatment, advice for carers and stories of hope. Will using hormone replacement therapy (HRT) preserve a woman’s brain health and protect her from dementia or not? The debate continues. Various studies have looked at the effects of menopause and hormone treatment on the brain – and dementia risk. Some have suggested that HRT has no impact on brain health in older women, and that it has a neutral...
