Charlotte, North Carolina Jun 23, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - WINE, WOMEN & FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES OFFICIAL VENUE & EVENT DATE

Official Event Date: September 23, 2023

Official Event Venue: Childress Vineyards

Venue Address: 1000 Childress Vineyards Rd., Lexington, NC 27295

CHARLOTTE, NC - June 23, 2023 - The Wine, Women & Film Festival, a live event with a focus on supporting women in the arts, wine and film industries, is thrilled to announce the official venue selection of Childress Vineyards for its 2nd annual event, and has confirmed the event debut date will be Saturday, September 23, 2023.

The 7 hour ticket required, private event program spans from 3PM - 10PM and will feature a Red Carpet Photo Opportunity. Attendees will enjoy a Wine Tasting Flight of 4 wines and Social/Networking Mixer (3PM - 4:30PM) in the vineyard setting to start, then the celebration continues as they transition to the Awards Dinner & Presentation from 5PM-6PM followed by a live screening of short-listed indie films from 6PM-10PM in the Victory Lounge event space.

Just an hour drive north from the Charlotte airport, Childress Vineyards has been dubbed the "Gateway to the Yadkin Valley'' wine region. Surrounded by the mountains and High Rock Lake just south of Lexington, North Carolina (https://visitlexingtonnc.com/), the venue is also complemented by an array of activities, restaurants and amenities.

Among its many accolades, Childress Vineyards was voted one of the "Top 25 Tasting Rooms in America" by Wine Enthusiast Magazine, the Bistro was voted OpenTable's Top 100 Scenic Restaurants in America, and the Winery (in addition to over 750 wine medals) is a four-time Recipient of Governor's Cup Award. It is also ranked as the #1 attraction in Lexington, NC by Trip Advisor.

Wendy Watts, the festival's Event Director and Co-Creator, underscored the value and significance of this venue selection in alignment with the project's mission by stating:

"As a woman-run project, we are proud to host an event with an organization that also supports hiring women in key roles."  With Richard Childress's daughter, Tina Dillon, as General Manager at the helm and Sherry Piotti as Director of Operations & Tasting Room (Level 2 Wine Spirit Education Trust Certified), Childress demonstrates its support of the advancement of women in the wine industry.

Janet Hart, the festival's Co-Creator commented: "We were also especially pleased with the fact that Childress Vineyards launched a wine line in September 2020 in honor of Richard Childress's daughter named "Jewel."

The Jewel line includes 3 wine varietals and the label is cut in the shape of a Jewel, while the Childress logo encircles daughter Tina Dillon's monogram initials.

Childress Vineyards features over 70 acres of vineyards and 15 varieties of European Vitis vinifera cultivars at two vineyards sites: Richard's Hampton Road Estate in Davidson County and Vineyard Crossing at the winery site. The terrain, with its combination of humid climate, long growing season and gravely, red clay soil are the key natural features of Childress Vineyards, producing a broad range of over 30 wines to appeal to both the introductory palate and the seasoned taster.

There are more than 10 hotels in a 15 mile radius, and the Wyndham Grandover offers a luxury full service resort, golf course and spa accommodations in nearby Greenesboro (https://grandoverresort.com/) approximately 27 miles away. Home to 200 wineries and growing, North Carolina ranks 10th in wine production in the country. For that reason, Yadkin Valley is one of the most prominent wine regions on the East Coast.

Only ticketed attendees will be permitted access to the event space and activities. Any media, brand partnership or sponsorship opportunity inquiries should send inquiry via email to [email protected].

The plague isn’t history. Where it still exists, how it spreads and a cure

To most, the plague is an ancient nightmare, a scourge that wiped out tens of millions in medieval Europe and killed more than 20,000 people in colonial Hong Kong between 1894 and 1929. A recent death at a plague research facility in Siberia is a stark reminder that the bacterium that causes it, Yersinia pestis, was never eradicated. While modern medicine has transformed the former “Black Death” into an easily treatable bacterial infection, the disease continues to circulate quietly across the...

Why freaky shoes from Saint Laurent, Chanel and Dior are trending

Why freaky shoes from Saint Laurent, Chanel and Dior are trending

There is something quite deliciously subversive about a freaky shoe. Feet of course already hold a hint of perversion – some people are really into them, while others find them repellent. But shod those feet in a shoe that people can find both compelling and strange? Well actually, that’s fashion catnip. Visceral proof can be found in those who have made the freaky shoe their signature, such as the aristocratic, enigmatic and entirely iconic Daphne Guinness, who always wears a pair of...
